Harvest off to slow start

It’s harvest time in Kansas, but unfortunately our yearly tradition has gotten off to a soggy start. While pockets of the state have started cutting over the last two weeks, cutting time has never lasted long due to an ill-timed blessing of rain from Mother Nature.

While farmers won't complain about the influx of moisture, it has slowed down wheat harvest for their operations. As soon as solid reports are available, Kansas Wheat will be sure to share them. Stay tuned for real harvest reports on kansaswheat.org or watch as farmers live-tweet their harvest information using #wheatharvest15. We are also sending Jordan Hildebrand, our field correspondent, out to farms and elevators across Kansas early next week to photograph and send out harvest reports. If you would like her to visit you, please send an email to jhildebrand@kswheat.com.
