- Wheat Growers Commend Perdue Confirmation
The Kansas Association of Wheat Growers congratulates Sonny Perdue on being confirmed as the new U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
“Secretary Perdue will do a great job advocating for farmers across the country, and we look forward to working with him over the next four years,” said KAWG President Ken Wood.
The Secretary will be tasked with working with Congress to develop the next five-year Farm Bill, which provides the critical farm safety net. Trade is another important issue for farmers, whose abundant production feeds the hungry throughout the world.
“Agriculture is facing many challenges right now,” said Kansas Wheat CEO Justin Gilpin. “It is important for us to have Perdue’s leadership in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and as a salesman for U.S. grown commodities.”
