KAWG commends Mann for Leadership on Farm Bill

The Kansas Association of Wheat Growers commend Representative Tracey Mann on his dedication to wheat farmers across Kansas by voting for the House Committee on Agriculture’s Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2024. President Kyler Millershaski made the following statement:

“KAWG commends Kansas’ Big First District Representative Tracey Mann for his leadership in moving the Farm Bill forward and voting on the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2024,” said Millershaski. “The Congressman’s priorities align with the concerns we bring forth to him each time we get to visit with him on the Hill. This is the next step towards a better safety net for farmers and a Farm Bill that is up to date with current times and needs.”

The Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2024 includes many priorities that the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers and National Association of Wheat Growers have been voicing over the last two years. Some of these priorities include:

  • Protecting crop insurance
  • Strengthening and enhancing Title 1 and crop insurance
  • Additional investment in agriculture trade promotions and U.S. commodities in the Farm Bill’s trade title
  • Supporting wheat research
  • Enterprise Unit separation by fallow and continuous

“Kansas wheat producers have been resilient in the face of extreme drought and market conditions that have greatly impacted their harvest,” said Rep. Mann. “One of my biggest priorities in Congress is to deliver agricultural policy that reflects their needs. I am proud to have passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 out of the House Agriculture Committee. It is a strong, fiscally conservative Farm Bill that champions their priorities. It strengthens the farm safety net, protects crop insurance, incentivizes agricultural trade, and more. I was also proud to secure language that will allow wheat farmers to combine the types of crop insurance they receive across counties. Kansas wheat farmers have continued to work around the clock to feed their neighbors even in adverse conditions, and this Farm Bill delivers for Kansans and Americans.”
