- A Fresh Look for a Kansas Wheat Tradition
Looking for a new weeknight dinner, a sweet treat or your next baking project? The 2026 Kansas Wheat Commission Recipe Book is here with a new look and recipes that show just how many ways wheat can make its way to the table.
This year's recipe book features recipes from EatWheat.org, with selections spanning whole wheat foods, easy breads, quick meals, appetizers and desserts. The fresh take on the annual recipe book is designed for amateur and experienced bakers alike, while giving readers a taste of the more than 500 recipes available online at EatWheat.org.
From Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins and Whole Wheat Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread to Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits and Berry Berry Bagels, the first half of the book offers plenty of ideas for putting flour to work. For those looking beyond the bread basket, the collection also includes Smothered Burritos, Grilled Chicken Bacon Avocado Wraps and Easy Air Fryer Pizza.
Appetizers and desserts round out the collection with Buffalo Chicken Puff Pastry Pinwheels, Easy Steak Bruschetta, Harvest Snack Mix, Pink Lemonade Thumbprint Cookies, Strawberry Dessert Panini and Oreo Mug Cake.
Each recipe has been reviewed and tested by Krista Gent, a food scientist contracted by the Kansas Wheat Commission, helping ensure the recipes are ready for home cooks to put to the test in their own kitchens.
But this year's book goes beyond recipes. Readers can learn about the six classes of wheat grown across the United States and how each class is used. The book highlights hard red winter wheat in particular, noting that it accounts for 95% of the wheat grown in Kansas and is well suited for yeast breads and rolls as well as tortillas, cereals and other wheat foods.
The book also takes a closer look at wheat nutrition, explaining the bran, germ and endosperm that make up the wheat kernel and the protein, vitamins and minerals wheat foods can provide.
The 2026 edition also recognizes a familiar face behind decades of Kansas Wheat recipe books. A special feature honors Cindy Falk for 40 years of service connecting Kansas wheat farmers with consumers through baking, education and outreach. Falk contributed to 37 editions of the Kansas Wheat Commission Recipe Book and helped grow the Kansas Festival of Breads into the National Festival of Breads.
From recipes for busy weeknights to breads and desserts worth sharing, the 2026 Kansas Wheat Commission Recipe Book offers a new way to explore the versatility of wheat while continuing a longstanding Kansas Wheat tradition.
