Julene DeRouchey

Nutrition Educator Assistant

Julene DeRouchey, Nutrition Educator Assistant for Kansas Wheat, began in 2004 as a volunteer “Speak for Wheat” spokesperson and became part-time nutritionist and National Festival of Breads baking contest Co-Chair in 2015. She is serving a term on the Home Baking Association board of directors.

Julene worked part-time writing nutrition curriculum for K-State’s Kids A Cookin’ program in 2004 and 2005. She was the Pottawatomie County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension agent from 2001 to 2003. She earned a B.S. in Human Ecology from Kansas State University. Julene grew up on a farm at Wamego, Kansas, and now resides with her husband Joel in rural St. Mary’s. She enjoys livestock shows with her children, James, Jenna and Jacob. Her hobbies include volunteering at church and school, serving as a 4-H leader, gardening, and baking.
